Uranium by Country: Mining Is Spread Out, Enrichment Is Not

Kazakhstan leads mining at under 40 percent, genuinely moderate, but Russia's enrichment share makes the real country-level risk sit downstream.

Mining is genuinely spread across eight meaningful producers. The enrichment map, covered below, looks nothing like this one.

World enrichment capacity by company/country, 2024. Only four entities control essentially the entire market, a far more concentrated picture than mining.

Australia’s reserve-production gap

Australia holds the largest reserve estimate in the world (roughly 1,684 units on the dashboard’s own published scale) despite mining less than a fifth of what Kazakhstan does, a real, under-exploited gap driven substantially by domestic policy choices rather than geological or technical constraints, a smaller-scale version of the Bolivia lithium pattern covered on lithium’s country page.
