About

Materials Decoded is written by Ibtisam Ahmed Khan, a materials engineer (BEng Materials Engineering, MSc Engineering Management, Tsinghua) who moved into data and AI work and kept noticing the same thing: the data underneath materials science is far less trustworthy than the models built on top of it assume.

This publication covers materials informatics, AI for materials discovery, and the unglamorous engineering that makes scientific data worth trusting. Every piece is grounded in tools I have actually built and run: a live auditor for Materials Project data, multi-source scientific data pipelines, and a series of materials focused AI agents.

The house rule is honesty. When a model score drops after fixing a leak, the lower number gets reported. When my own tools are wrong, that becomes a post too.
