Mine production by country, 2024. Reserves follow a similar pattern: Australia 580 Mt, South Africa 550 Mt, Brazil 300 Mt, China 260 Mt, Gabon 61 Mt, well ahead of the remaining producers.

Reserves and production do not fully agree

Australia holds the single largest reserve estimate despite mining less than a quarter of what South Africa does, a smaller version of the reserve-production mismatch covered more dramatically on lithium’s country page. This points to real headroom for Australian output to grow relative to its current, comparatively modest production share.
